Sustainable Regeneration of a Peripheral Estate

Whitecrook Regeneration Centre, Clydebank

Client: Whitecrook Residents Association

The study assessed the financial and social sustainability of the proposed area to be regenerated, and included the preparation of sketch site development designs with associated indicative costs. Gaia facilitated a number of community and stakeholder workshops and the resulting masterplan for the area's development responded to local aspirations and concerns. The Masterplan resolved concerns about an adjacent derelict site where Gaia proposed a canalside community recreation facility, which would allow it to be used for aquatic leisure pursuits.

The work and subsequent report was used to raise awareness of the project, and to generate support from potential users and funders.
